FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Do I need a ticket to enter Open House?
Entry is free. Please register to attend via Eventbrite. 

Bring along your proof of registration such as ticket/booking confirmation, either printed or ready to show on your phone.

Are there ticketed events/activties I need to book ahead for?​
Some activities have limited capacity and will require a separate booking. Please check the Open House Program for full program details.​​​

Don't worry if you've missed out on one of these ticketed events/activities - there will be plenty to see and do at Open House for everyone!

​What time does Open House start and finish?​
​Doors officially open at 10:00am. The event concludes at 4:00pm. Last entry is at 3:30pm.​

Is Parliament House accessible?​
We are committed to ensuring everyone can access Parliament. See information on accessibility at Parliament House.

Is pram parking available?

Yes we will have arrangements for this.

​Is parking available?
Car parking is not generally available at Parliament House. Car parks are located nearby at:

  • Cook and Phillip Parks (access via Cathedral St)
  • The Domain (access via St Marys Road)
  • Sydney Hospital next door to Parliament House (access via Hospital Road).

Are there any conditions to entry? ​

​All visitors (and their bags) must go through security screening on entry to the building. By entering the event, you accept that you may be photographed for use in public communications.

Will there be photography at the event?​
There will be professional photographers capturing the day for use in public communication.

Can I take photos at the event?​
We encourage you to take photos and even post them to social media! Remember to use #OpenHouse200 and #nswparliament

Will there be activities for children?​
Yes! F
or our younger visitors, there will be art/craft activities for children of all ages and an exciting Children’s Trail expedition through the precinct.

Will there be food and drink for sale? ​
Absolutely! There will be a variety of Food and Drink options available on the day, including sausages in a roll in the Speaker's Garden and many other options in our Public Cafe.

Can I bring my own food and drink into Parliament House? ​
Yes, you can! Hot food and drinks are not allowed for safety reasons. Alcohol is also not allowed. 

Note there are very limited places to eat within Parliament House and eating is not allowed in some areas. 

If bringing your own food, you might like to enjoy a picnic in the Domain or Hyde Park!​
