For 130 summers, Royal Life Saving has helped millions of Australians stay safe around the water. From backyard pools and country rivers to lakes, dams, and local swimming spots, the organisation has been part of Australia's story.
Waterway of Life tells that story – presenting Royal Life Saving’s history and its crucial work in teaching generations to swim, rescue, and respond. Established in NSW in 1894, Royal Life Saving has been the premier organisation for drowning prevention and water safety in Australia ever since, helping facilitate the nation’s water-loving lifestyle.
Through educational displays and data, artefacts and photographs, Waterway of Life showcases the people, programs and places that have brought water safety and drowning prevention into the 21st century.
The exhibition also serves to remind us all of the ongoing importance of water safety and education. Because as Royal Life Saving knows best, water isn’t just part of our landscape – it's part of our identity.
Waterway of Life – 130 Summers of Royal Life Saving is being hosted at NSW Parliament House by Roy Butler MP,
Member for Barwon.
