Altitude

Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains - web banner.pngAltitude brings together selected contemporary artworks by 18 artist members of Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains (MAPBM), responding to the area’s dynamic landscape, its resilience, and history.

The World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains region is beloved for its rugged beauty and unique charm. Rising above the plains to a height of 1,215 metres, it comprises a series of villages surrounded by protected wilderness that has spawned abundant artist interpretation. MAPBM is a leading artist-run initiative in the area, encompassing artists from the Greater Western Sydney to Central Western NSW areas.

Curated by Miriam Williamson, Altitude spans a range of media including paiting, printmaking, digital printing, photography and textile art. Subject matter draws on the natural and urban environment, faun, astronomy and social history.

Altitude is being hosted at NSW Parliament House by Trish Doyle MP, Member for Blue Mountains.

Featured artists: Brad Allen-Waters, M Bozzec, Vivienne Dadour, Jo Davies, Kris Deray, Beata Geyer, Jody Graham, Yvette Hamilton, Sabine Le Tourneau, Fleur MacDonald, Ian Milliss, Chia Moan, Ro Murray, Sean O'Keeffe, Katya Petetskaya, Pam Vaughn, Rebecca Waterstone and Leanne Wicks.
