In 2025, the Parliament of NSW is continuing its commitment to engaging with regional communities by showcasing the voices and leadership of young people across New South Wales.
The NSW Legislative Council – the Upper House of the NSW Parliament – introduced the roadshows in 2024 during its Bicentenary. Last year's roadshow highlighted the eagerness of young people to be heard and engage in the democratic process.
This year, we are excited to bring a Public Speaking Competition and a Youth Forum to six new locations: Grafton, Queanbeyan, Tamworth, Griffith, Cessnock, Orange. Through the competition and forum, high school students in the six regions will have the opportunity to share their ideas on key topics and discuss issues that matter to them.
These two events will provide the region’s young people with the valuable networks and platform to support them as future leader and as a voice for their community.
The winner of the Public Speaking Competition in each region will compete in the State Final of the NSW Parliament Regional Public Speaking Competition, which will be held in NSW Parliament House on 5 December 2025.
If you are a student wishing to take part in the Public Speaking Competition or the Youth Forum, please contact your school principal, who has further details on how to get involved.
