Educated at Inverell and Cobar; boilermaker's assistant at Stockton and Newcastle; organising secretary of the New South Wales, Australian Labor Party 1940-1950, general secretary 1950-1952; member of Aborigines Welfare Board 1945-1963; trustee of Kuringai Chase from 1946; councillor of Royal Blind Society 1962-1972. Recreational interests include swimming, reading, football and gardening, poultry, bowls, hiking and fishing.

Son of Henry Wright, miner, and Mary Bevin. Married Vera Herford on 28 January 1928 and had issue, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Married Vera and had issue, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Funeral at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Kingsgrove and at Rookwood Catholic cemetery.
