Appointed examiner of Faculty of Medicine at University of Sydney in 1856. Visited Victoria in 1857 and awarded degree at University of Melbourne. Vice President of Australian Medical Association in 1859. President in 1860. Physician to Benevolent Asylum. Destitute Childrens Asylum. Hebrew Ladies Benefit Society. Trustee of Australian Museum 1869 until 1873. Member of Committee which financed St Andrews College at University of Sydney. Masonic Provincial Grand Master of the Scotch Constitution in New South Wales in 1856. Later Grand Master of Grand Lodge of New South Wales.
