Qualifications, occupations and interests
Engineer. Educated at the Royal Melbourne Technical College and the University of Sydney. Obtained a Diploma in Public Administration, in 1944. Qualifications of Member of the Institution of Engineers (Australia), Chartered Engineer (Australia), Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Australia, and of New Zealand; Fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Administration. Was a rural development engineer for the Public Works Department. Subsequently worked for the British Houston Company; was an executive of the Electric Light and Power Supply Corporation, 1949; and Director of the Hawkesbury Development Company Limited, electricity supply authority, from 1964 until 1965. He wrote 'Enlarging Our Powers of Self-Government', published in 1951.
