Qualifications, occupations and interests
Woolclasser. Station manager and Policeman. Spent youth on parents farm. Educated in country schools, learnt woolclassing; employed on Ellerslie station between Adelong and Tarcutta in 1918, manager from 1919 until 1922; joined police force, started at Clarence Street station, transferred to Criminal Investigation Branch, organised Stock Squad, Detective Sergeant, later became Superintendent of traffic branch and Deputy Commissioner, retired in 1954; helped to establish police rifle club, Captain; established a hostel for first offenders in 1924; in retirement became president of Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, founded Animal Welfare League; Honorary Administrator of Foundation for Aboriginal Affairs; member of Good Neighbour Council; President of Drummoyne Road Safety Council; Freemason; Methodist lay preacher, circuit steward, active in Sydney City Mission.

Served in Australian Infantry Forces from 1914 until 1918, Sergeant Major of permanent instructional staff
