Educated at Albury public school; moved to Sydney in 1902, with Troup, Harwood and Company public accountants until 1920; Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia; in partnership with S.P.M Cowley established Walmsley, Cowley and company; honorary auditor with Scottish Hospital; honorary treasurer with Lindfield Soldiers' Memorial Fund; associated with a number of local organisations, progress associations and Royal North Shore Hospital; founder of National Speakers' Association in 1910. Represented New South Wales as an interstate debater 1912; Freemason; treasurer of St Stephen's Church.
