Lawyer (solicitor). Educated at St Clement's School in Yass and Fort Street Public School, Sydney. Articled as a solicitor to A. Ashdown; admitted as a solicitor in 1890; senior partner in Berne and Shipway, solicitors. Honorary secretary of New South Wales Anniversary Regatta Committee for 5 years. Freemason.
