Educated at Girrinderra and Goulburn; joined Education Department in 1900, taught at various country schools until 1917; proof reader of Goulburn evening Post after 1927; farmer and grazier at Carcoar and Mandurama districts; retired to Pennant Hills in 1950's; active in anti-conscription campaign from 1916 until 1917; author in 1924
