Political Party Activity
Australian Labor Party (ALP). Secretary of the Wagga Wagga branch in 1925; opposed to J.T Lang in 1927, expelled from the party, stood as an Independent for Labor.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Schoolteacher. Educated at Albion Street Superior public and Sydney Boys High school; spent early life on a farm; went to sea as a trimmer and fireman; joined the Education Department, trained at Hereford House in 1912, taught in city and country schools including Lismore from 1918 until 1920, Broken Hill High school from 1920 until 1923 and Wagga Wagga High School from 1923 until 1925, obtaining a scholarship to University of Sydney., BA in 1918, MA in 1921; returned to teaching after defeat, at Mosman Intermediate, Technical High, Central Technical, and Parramatta High School; later became a research officer with Education Department to 1953; life member of Australian Genealogical Society in 1946; fellow in 1963; associated with T.D Mutch.

Married (2) Leila Edith Rosenthall in 1939 and had issue, 1 daughter and 1 son. Church of England. Funeral in Church of England section of Waverley cemetery.
