Founder of the Zoological Society of New South Wales and of the Zoological Gardens at Moore Park.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Auctioneer. Arrived in Sydney in 1854 with little money. He gained employment as an auctioneer in Sydney, firstly with Cohen and Harbottle and then with Robert Muriel, at Wynyard Square. Around 1859 established Bradley, Norton and Lamb, auctioneers, from which he retired in 1887.

Personal
Son of George Robert, an assayer at the Royal Mint, and Eliza, nee Cave. Arrived in Sydney at the age of eighteen. Married Emily Hobbs on 31 March 1859 in Redfern, Sydney and had issue 3 sons and 12 daughters. Church of England.
