Pastoralist. At various time he held the following properties in partnership with his brother Joseph: at Inverell (Auburn Vale), Moree (Bogamildi, Caedmurra, Wirrah), Uralla (Toryburn) and Merriwa (Curringal, Terrigong. Was a pastoralist when he was elected to the Legislative Council.
