Commissioned as a Justice of the Peace. Member of the Committee of the Australia Club.

Personal information

Son of John, a surveyor and civil engineer, and Sarah Kennedy. Arrived in New South Wales with his parents on 24 February 1824. Married Caroline Cripps.

Qualifications, occupations and interests

Purchased freehold estate near Cassilis in the late 1830's with his brother William (who later became a member of the Legislative Council between 1 July 1867 and 23 June 1887). Became a pastoralist with a sheep run in 1852.
