Former Director of the National Roads and Motorists Association. Winner of 4 gold and 4 silver Olympic Games medals; and 6 gold and 6 silver Commonwealth Games medals. Holder of 27 former world swimming records. Admitted to Champions Hall of Fame 1988. Olympic torchbearer for the Sydney Olympic Games (2000) opening ceremony. Recreational interests include swimming and dogs.
