Educated at Cooerwull Academy, Lithgow; member of pastoralist family owning Kinross, Billabong, Hillside, Clifton stations in Holbrook district, others near Inverell, Coleambally, Harden, Hay and Macquarie Fields; worked on Kinross; when Ross Brothers' partnership dissolved in 1913, became a manager for father; with brothers brought out father in 1921, lived on Kanimbla, part of the original Kinross station, from 1919; councillor at Albury Grammar School in 1929, Presbyterian Ladies College., Goulburn 1923 - 1924, Scots College., Sydney 1925 - 1931; member of Farmers and Settlers Association 1900; guest at coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11; member of Trusteeship committee of New South Wales Presbyterian church.
