Auctioneer and agent, farmer and grazier. Educated at Cleveland Street Superior and Inverell and Bingara Public Schools; worked in father's sawmill; auctioneer and commercial agent since c.1888, also government and municipal valuer; council clerk at Bingara Shire c.1890-1910; established Bingara's first stock yards in 1892; acquired first land in 1903, Beaufort, which built up to a 5000 acre holding by 1920, sheep and wheat; secretary of Bingara District Hospital in 1897; executive member of Farmers and Settlers' Association 1909-1922, vice president 1913-1916, 1920-1922, supporter of New States Movement in 1922; temperance.

Son of James Teare Wearne, flourmiller, and Emily Dengate. Married (1) Clara Louisa Bridger on 16 November 1887 and had issue, 1 daughter and 1 son. Married (2) Alice May Capel, grazier, at Barraba in 1895 and had issue, 1 daughter and 4 sons. Methodist. Funeral at Rookwood crematorium from Bondi Junction Methodist church. His uncle, Joseph Wearne, was also a Member of the Legislative Assembly.
