Qualifications, occupations and interests
Lawyer (solicitor) and grazier. Educated at Sydney Grammar School; articled to John Borthwick, Inverell in 1884, assigned to E.G Dawes in Sydney in 1889, admitted as a solicitor in 1890, in partnership with Stirton and Moodie, Moree to 1914, and Peate and Murray in 1915; partner with brother in Balarang station near Moree, and later in Auburnvale near Inverell and Oregon near Warialda; member of Inverell Volunteers. Chairman of Inverell Pastures Protection Board in 1916; councillor of Graziers' Association 1919 - 1921; keen sportsman and notable cricketer.
Military Service
2nd lieutenant in 1886, went to South African war as a lieutenant.
