(1) What was the total amount of interest collected for late payment of water bills in the following financial years:

(a) 2019-2020?

(b) 2020-2021?

Answer -

I am advised:

(1) 

Hunter Water

(a) $223,756.20

(b) $126,789.11

Hunter Water did not charge interest for any customer (residential or non-residential) who was financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Water NSW

(a) $72,395.04 for Water NSW customers

(b) Nil.

As part of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 response, interest due from Water NSW customers from February 2020 to June 2021 has been waived.

Sydney Water

(a) $3,116,438*

(b) $2,453,785*

As part of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 response, Sydney Water stopped charging late payment fees and interest during periods in both financial years to assist customers during the pandemic-driven economic climate.
