(1) How many business customers were charged interest for late payment of water bills in the following financial years:

(a) 2019-2020?

(b) 2020-2021?
Answer -

(1) 

 WaterNSW

(a) 4,731 WaterNSW customers in total for the period 1 July 2019 to 31 January 2020.

(b) Nil

However, as part of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 response, interest due from WaterNSW customers from February 2020 to June 2021 has been waived.

Sydney Water

(a) 23,530

(b) 15,190

Sydney Water stopped charging late payment fees and interest during periods in both financial years to assist customers during the pandemic-driven economic climate.
