Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) collects information and data about complaints or reports of bullying through two mechanisms. The Grievance Policy outlines how employees should address workplace grievances. This includes informal resolution as well as formal means such as conciliation and mediation.
The information provided are claims and reports made through the formal Grievance Policy:
| Total number of reported bullying & harassment claims employees | Number of individual employees |
(i) 2015 | *Not available | Not available |
(ii) 2016 | 25 | 25 |
(iii) 2017 | 23 | 23 |
(iv) 2018 | 28 | 28 |
(v) 2019 | 42 | 42 |
*In 2015, changes to the way grievances were managed were implemented. Data collected for that year is fragmented.
The number of workers compensation claims by individuals indicating bullying and harassment as the cause of workplace injury for the period 2015-2019 is as follows:
2015 | 29 |
2016 | 27 |
2017 | 40 |
2018 | 72 |
2019 | 62* |
*at 2 December 2019
Some individuals raise complaints of bullying and harassment through the Grievance Policy and also submit a workers compensation claim.
