2599 - Treasurer - STATE BUDGET STAMP DUTY

Jackson, Rose to the Minister for Finance and Small Business representing the Treasurer

(1) How will the proposed changes to Stamp Duty, flagged by the Treasurer in his State Budget Speech, impact the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 No22?

(2) Given that stamp duty arrangements were put in place for residents impacted by acquisitions for the WestConnex M4 East project, what impacts can future property owners subject to the Act, expect once the new scheme is in place?

Answer -

The Government's intention is to ensure that no person receiving compensation under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 will be financially disadvantaged by the proposed stamp duty reforms. The Government is currently consulting on a proposed model to reform stamp duty and will be considering interactions with other legislation as part of this process.
