Answer -

I am advised:

(1) No. The NSW Police Force has no record of a 'Strike Force Odin '.

(2) $3.37 million (inclusive of salaries) in 2023-24.

(3) Operation Odin is the name of the Operational Support Group attached to the NSWPF Central Metropolitan Region. Its charter includes:

  • assisting with protests, parades, demonstrations and large crowd events
  • support of Local, Region and Specialist Command operations
  • specialist search operations
  • execution of search warrants
  • first responders for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents
  • high visibility policing
  • non-compliant prisoner facilitation.

(4) The Public Order and Riot Squad provides ongoing specialised training to Operational Support Group officers. Operation Odin and the Public Order and Riot Squad will often be deployed for combined operations.
