Reject Burwood Council's alternative Master Plan, and adopt the Transport Oriented Development plan

Petitioner: Ms Van Nguyen | Member: Rath, Chris | No. of Signatories: 627 | Date closed: 15/01/2025 | Status: Presented 11/02/2025
To the President and Members of the Legislative Council, the petitioners of New South Wales acknowledge the housing crisis and National Housing Accord, advocate for density done fairly and effectively state that Burwood Council replaced the Croydon Transport Oriented Development (TOD) Program site plan with Croydon Master Plan, which is an inferior plan, placing 90% of density outside the 400m radius of Croydon Station, including 30 storey buildings 1.1km away. This contradicts TOD principles of clustering medium density housing centred around Croydon Station. The petitioners request that the House calls on the Government to: 1. Reject any alternative masterplan proposed by Burwood Council; and 2. Implement the original TOD provisions for Croydon, which is a more equitable distribution of mid-rise density both north and south of the railway line.
