To the President and Members of the Legislative Council, the petitioners of New South Wales state that land management practices implemented by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) have resulted in numerous uncontrollable fires destroying habitat and species diversity and caused decades of erosion. This is as a result of failures to undertake prescribed and planned burns. The recent fires in Los Angeles show that it's time to commence an inquiry into the current policies and remove executives that have failed to protect the environment. The petitioners request that the House undertake an urgent inquiry into the "lock it up and leave it" management practices of the NPWS.
