NSW Parliament is now beautifully restored, February 2024

After a year of restoration work, the covers on the exterior of the Parliament House facade have now come off, allowing everyone to see the meticulous restoration of the building’s original stone colour from the early 1800s. And what about the incredible native planting scheme in the forecourt garden!

People can, once again, enter the Parliament through the doors on the forecourt. The final restoration of the building's interior is on track to be completed in April 2024. Speaker Piper extended his congratulations and thanks to the parliamentary teams who have driven this massive and important project.

Fun fact:
Did you know that the Rum Hospital's Level 8 veranda was restored using recycled power poles? True!
