Answer -

The Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund is part of the Government's $290 million Open Spaces and Greening Sydney initiative which will provide funding to enhance open space, parks, sporting fields and playgrounds in Greater Sydney.

The Fund has been designed to address the sport facility needs of communities across the 33 Greater Sydney local government areas. The Fund supports the work of the Greater Sydney Commission in planning for liveable communities in the five Greater Sydney Districts.

Sporting groups in the Newcastle local government area are eligible to apply for funding under a number of grant programs including the Local Sport Grant Program, Community Building Partnership Program and Liquor and Gaming's Infrastructure Grants.
