8513 - DUAL CARRIAGEWAY UPGRADE OF BRUXNER HIGHWAY

Saffin, Janelle to the Minister for Agriculture, and Minister for Western New South Wales representing the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads

With planning for a dual carriageway upgrade of the Bruxner Highway between Goonellabah and Wollongbar not expected to be completed until late 2023, when will the current speed limits be lowered near the Alphadale crossroads as an interim safety measure?

Answer -

I am advised:

Transport for NSW committed to completing a Speed Zone Review for this section of the Bruxner Highway.

On 25 August 2022, the Speed Zone review commenced and is expected to take eight weeks to complete. The review will include engagement with local council, NSW Police, and members of the Local Traffic Committee. The review will be completed in line with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines which will include those safety concerns raised at the Alphadale intersection.

The outcome of the review will determine if any changes to the speed limit are appropriate.
