1738 - HUNTER VALLEY RESEARCH FOUNDATION FUNDING

Hornery, Sonia to the Deputy Premier, Minister for Trade and Investment, and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services

Given the invaluable work of the Hunter Valley Research Foundation (HVRF), will the Government reconsider its withdrawal of $150,000 in annual funding to the organisation for the benefit of the Hunter community?

Answer -

The NSW Government has had a long relationship with the Hunter Valley Research Foundation and will continue to do so.

The Government recognises the expertise of the HVRF in the area of applied economic and social research and will commission work, in accordance with best practice, on a fee-for-service basis as required.

Currently the NSW Government is expanding and improving its ability to provide sound statistical and economic advice through the important work of the NSW Chief Economist.

The NSW Government is committed to supporting local businesses and promoting economic growth in the Hunter through our $350 million Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund, our Regional Industries Investment Fund and the State Investment Attraction Scheme.
