  1. Can the Deputy Premier outline the Government's commitment to science research in New South Wales?
  2. What is the Deputy Premier's vision for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in New South Wales?
  3. How does the Government intend to support the CSIRO in relation to the organisation's contribution to New South Wales?
Answer -
  1. The Government has committed to and supported a number of programs to drive investment in Research and development and achieve those goals.
    In the 2014-15 Budget, the Government committed $14 million to support innovation and investment in the state's Research and development capacity via the Research Attraction and Acceleration Program.
  2. The Government recognises the importance of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) maintaining a continued presence here, and values the significant opportunities that provides in terms of Research and development collaboration.
  3. The CSIRO is Australia's national science agency. It is a Commonwealth Government organisation and, as such, it is not the Government's responsibility to support CSIRO.
