I am advised:
- to (3) In the 2010-11 financial year, Newcastle City Council received
$149,137 and Lake Macquarie City Council received $84,600 under the Graffiti
Hotspot Grants Program.
No additional funding was provided to these
councils in the 2011-12 financial year as the funding provided in 2010-11 has
not yet been fully expended. The apprehension of offenders falls within
the portfolio responsibilities of the Minister for Police and Emergency
Services. Members of the public can report crimes by calling the Police
Assistance Line. Also, Lake Macquarie is one of the locations in which the
Graffiti Offender Education Program "De-Tag" is available for the court
to refer juveniles who are known graffiti offenders. The program is funded by
my Department and is being implemented by the NSW Police Community Youth Clubs
around NSW.
