  1. How many criminal compensation claims for child sexual abuse offences have been lodged, over the past two years for persons in the following postcodes:
    1. 2287;
    2. 2305;
    3. 2285;
    4. 2307;
    5. 2299;
    6. 2284?
  2. How many of these claims relate to offences that will be affected by the proposed ten year limit on the payment for claims to these victims?
Answer -

I am advised:

(1) The numbers of claims lodged in relation to child sexual abuse by people residing in the specified postcodes are detailed in the following table:

(2) Under the Victims Rights and Support Act 2013 that was assented to on 3 June 2013, victims of child sexual abuse are able to make an application for victim support at any time, no matter how long ago the abuse took place. They are eligible for counselling (initial approval of 22 hours with the Commissioner's discretion to extend), a recognition payment of up to $10,000, as well as financial assistance for out of pocket expenses and justice related expenses of up to $10,000.
