228 - PER CAPITA FUNDING FOR PUBLIC LIBRARIES

Hornery, Sonia to the Deputy Premier, Minister for Justice and Police, Minister for the Arts, and Minister for Racing

Considering that New South Wales receives the lowest per capita funding for public libraries of all states in Australia, is the Government planning to increase the $1.85 per capita amount provided to each local government area?

(a) If so, by how much?

Answer -

The prescribed amount for subsidy is set in the Library Regulation 2010.

The Government will continue to work with stakeholders on public library matters through the Library Council of NSW, to ensure that our public libraries continue to provide quality services for the people of New South Wales.
