(1) The prices, fees and subsidies to apply under Smart and Skilled are
based on advice from the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART)
which included modelling student demand and consultation with industry and the
community. The independent NSW Skills Board considered this advice and
recommended some important changes to ensure students will not be unduly
disadvantaged.
The new fees and prices mean that 46,000 more students will be able to train
in 2015 than under the current arrangements.
(2) TAFE NSW will continue to provide high quality training that meets the
needs of industry and provide students with qualifications that ensure they are
work ready. Hunter TAFE is positioning itself to be the provider of choice for
students in the region under Smart and Skilled.
