838 - HUNTER STADIUM PARK AND RIDE SERVICE OPERATIONAL COSTS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport and Roads

(1) Considering the Minister's responses to LA Q72, how much was contributed by Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation to the operational costs of the Hunter Stadium Park and Ride Service?

(2) How much was contributed to the operational costs by Transport for NSW?

(3) Were passenger numbers recorded by Newcastle Transport?

(a) If so, how many passengers made use of the service (as at 31 July 2019)?

Answer -

(1) The Park and Ride service was a City of Newcastle initiative, not a regular timetabled public transport route. Government funding was linked to alleviating the impact of light rail construction in the city centre and was only ever designed to be temporary.

(2) Operational costs are commercial-in-confidence.

(3) Passenger numbers are recorded by the City of Newcastle.
