2981 - WALLSEND ELECTORATE - DISABLED ACCESS TO BANKING SERVICES

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services

Considering the recent bank closures across the Wallsend electorate, how will people with disabilities retain access to banking services?

Answer -

The Government is committed to identifying and breaking down the barriers which prevent those with disability from enjoying the same opportunities and choices as everyone else.

The Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (DIA) demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Government to building an inclusive community and requires the Government to produce a Disability Inclusion Plan. The New South Wales Disability Inclusion Plan supports the DIA and provides a strategy to implement the Act's objects and principles across Government and the community.

I have been advised that banking services are available at post offices across New South Wales through Australia Post's Bank@Post service, including Wallsend Post Shop, Wallsend South Post Office, Waratah Post Office, Shortland Post Office, Lambton Post Office, New Lambton Post Office and Jesmond Post Shop.
