4642 - FUTURE SOCIAL HOUSING FOR THE NEWCASTLE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Water, Property and Housing

(1) How many social housing properties are planned to be built in the Newcastle local government area in each financial year from 2020-21 to 2022-23?

(2) How many of these properties will be:

(a) Single structure houses;

(b) Town houses;

(c) Unit complexes?

 
Answer -

I am advised that:

(1) In the Newcastle Local Government Area, NSW Land and Housing Corporation has:

no current plans to build in the 2020-21 financial year

  • 45 in the 2021-22 financial year
  • 18 in the 2022-23 financial year.

(2) Of these properties, which are built fit for purpose to meet the needs of tenants:

  • 18 will be single structures
  • Five will be dual occupancy or manor house buildings
  • 40 will be units.
