1598 - HUNTER WATER

Hornery, Sonia to the Treasurer representing the Minister for Finance and Services, and Minister for the Illawarra

Why has the Government allowed Hunter Water to allocate expensive repair bills to property owners in the Hunter?

Answer -

Hunter Water remains responsible for its wastewater assets and the customer remains responsible for their private services, including sewer inspection shafts. There has been no shift of responsibility in relation to sewer maintenance and repairs, however in cases of genuine hardship, Hunter Water will continue to exercise discretion and contribute to the repair of a damaged sewer inspection shaft.
