I am advised:
In 2013, Roads and Maritime Services conducted a feasibility study into a
proposed driver-information scheme to warn motorists freight trains would close
Glebe Road, so they could choose an alternative route. However, the study found
the scheme would not be feasible, as a large rail siding yard north of the
crossing means there is insufficient time to reliably advise motorists the boom
gates are closing.
Roads and Maritime is undertaking the Inner Newcastle Traffic Study to
investigate options to address congestion issues, which includes the Adamstown
Railway Level Crossing and surrounding road network. The study is expected to
be completed by the end of 2014.
