The sources of the statistics cited by the Minister for Skills in his
response to LA Q4548 were TAFE NSW data, National Centre for
Vocational Education Research VOCSTATS and Australian Bureau of Statistics
Labour Force statistics.
-
A number of Government policy changes to the Smart and Skilled program led
to strong growth in enrolments in 2016. These included:
-
the introduction of fully subsidised part qualifications and skill-sets to
assist people in New South Wales to undertake entry level qualifications, get
the skills they need to get jobs, or, transition to new jobs
-
introduction of Fee Free Scholarships for students from disadvantaged target
groups, and
-
changes to eligibility criteria and fee waivers.
