2255 - MORE FREQUENT AND RELIABLE JOURNEYS

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport

How will the "biggest shake-up to the State's railways in a generation" lead to more frequent and reliable journeys?

Answer -

The Fixing the Trains initiative announced on 15 May 2012 will give the people of NSW the world-class rail system they deserve. This program is supported by important actions such as:

    • Delivering 63 additional weekly rail services in October 2011;
    • Adding 30,000 seats each week on selected Newcastle & Central Coast line services;
    • Completely re-writing the CityRail timetable to deliver additional express and semi-express services; and
    • Constructing 35 station upgrades and 9 commuter car parks as part of the Transport Access Program.
