- In view of statistics revealed this week that NSW Community Services
received almost 80 child abuse reports a day from the Hunter Central Coast
region during the last financial year, making it the worst region in the state,
is the Government planning to provide additional funding to Community Services
in the Hunter ?
- What steps is the Government taking to provide more support for families in
the Hunter?

- and (2) The Department of Family and Community Services funds a wide range
of programs for families in the Hunter Central Coast including:
- Two new Family Preservation and Restoration Pilot projects to provide an
intensive intervention designed to reduce the likelihood of children entering
OOHC and provide intervention tailored to minimise significant statutory child
protection involvement and promote early restoration, where possible.
- Two new Aboriginal Intensive Family Based Services projects to provide an
intensive family based intervention to Aboriginal families with children who
are at risk of entering Out of Home Care (OOHC).
- Two new Whole of Family Teams to provide multidisciplinary and multi-agency
intervention to families with complex child protection concerns.
- Over $33 million was allocated to more than 100 other programs in the
region.
