I am advised:

Planning is well under way for the 3.4 kilometer final section of Newcastle Inner City bypass between Rankin Park and Jesmond.

In the 2014-15 Budget, the Government committed $150 million from Restart NSW towards construction of the $280 million stage five section from Rankin Park to Jesmond. $4 million has been allocated in the 2015-16 Budget to continue planning for stage five.

Roads and Maritime Services expects to display the refined concept design for community and stakeholder comment later in 2015, with construction to start in 2017 and open to traffic by the end of 2019.
