  1. What has led to the significant increase in the average cost of the John Hunter Hospital admitted patients in the three years to 2013-14?

  2. What is the Government doing to bring the average cost of care for admitted patients at John Hunter Hospital back down to be in line with the New South Wales average?

Answer -

(1) to (2) Activity Based Funding was rolled-out across NSW Health in 2012. During 2012-13 and 2013-14 the Hunter New England Local Health District focused on better understanding the new national approach and accurate allocation of expenditure to activity.
