- The NSW Government, through the NSW Environmental Trust, allocated:
- $98,598 to the Hunter Wetlands Centre at Shortland in 2006⁄2007.
- No applications for further funding were received by the Environmental
Trust from the Hunter Wetlands Centre for 2007⁄2008.
- The funds were allocated in 2006⁄07 for a three-year project
entitled 'Biodiversity Enhancement of Shortland Wetlands Ramsar and Endangered
Ecological Communities Site'.
This project has been identified as a
priority in the Ramsar Ecological Character Report and Management Plan 2004-09.
The project will ensure the on-going protection of this significant wetlands
complex, and the improvement of habitat values for threatened species.
