4177 - INVESTMENT INTO EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

  1. Will the $115 million dollar recently announced investment into early childhood education overlook lower-income working families?
    1. If so, will you be releasing the rest of the $350 million earmarked for the sector to meet its continuing short falls?
Answer -

Under Start Strong, the base rate funding for Aboriginal children and children from low income families attending community preschool will increase to $6,600 per eligible child enrolled in 600 hours of preschool. This is a 22% increase compared to the existing base rate of $5,402.

All funding received from the Australian Government under the National Partnership Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education has been fully allocated.
