Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Education

Following the 2011 Budget announcement of extra teachers for NSW schools, how many additional teachers will be employed in the Wallsend electorate and in which schools?
Answer -

The Government's Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan will see an additional 900 teachers in schools in New South Wales over the next 5 years.

The Ministerial Advisory Group is currently seeking information from key stakeholders to inform the advice as to how best to progressively allocate the resources to schools in order to achieve the maximum benefit. These resources will be allocated to the schools across New South Wales most in need of literacy and numeracy support.
