8975 - PRIMARY EDUCATION IN THE WALLSEND ELECTORATE

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Education
  1. What is the combined capacity of primary schools in the Wallsend electorate (as at 7 August 2018)?
  2. How many students are projected to be enrolled in primary education in the Wallsend electorate by 2023?
Answer -

I'm advised that:

Every eligible student who wishes to attend a New South Wales  government school will be given a place at their local school. Accordingly, the Department of Education does not have fixed enrolment capacities at New South Wales government schools. Schools have the capacity to adapt to fluctuating enrolments through the use of a combination of temporary and permanent teaching spaces.

Primary schools in the electorate have adequate space to meet projected enrolment demand in the short to medium term, and the department is developing a strategy to manage long-term primary school enrolment demand for the electorate.
