- to (3) The Government's Better Hospitals & Healthcare Plan includes a
$3 billion investment into health capital, opening 1,390 beds and providing
2,475 extra nurses, including 275 additional Clinical Nurse/Midwife
Educators and Clinical Nurse Midwife Specialists over the term of this
Parliament.
I am advised that during 2010⁄11, 12 beds were opened at
the Calvary Mater Hospital at Newcastle, and as at July 2011, NSW Health had
recruited almost 600 extra nurses and midwives into the system since the
election. As announced in the State Budget, a record $17.3 billion has
been allocated to health to return quality health services to the people of New
South Wales.
